Commanders,
As we prepare for the 127th VFW National Convention, we anticipate that one or more roll call votes may occur during the business sessions. To help ensure these votes are conducted efficiently and consistently, I am providing the attached Department Commander - Roll Call Instructions Sheet.
This informational guide is based on the applicable provisions of the National Bylaws and the proposed Convention Rules. It outlines the procedures to be followed during a roll call vote, including how your Department should determine and calculate its voting strength based on the Posts represented during the sessions.Note: If a Post does not have a registered delegate in attendance for the business session, then the delegate/voting strength of that Post shall be subtracted from the Department total prior to being cast.
Please take a few minutes to review and familiarize yourself with this information before arriving in Reno. Having a clear understanding of the process will help ensure roll call votes are conducted accurately, efficiently, and without unnecessary delays.
For your convenience, a copy of these instructions will also be included with your Department's delegate strength report each morning of the Convention in which a business session will take place.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping ensure the orderly conduct of the Convention.
Respectfully,
Quentin Carroll
