SCOUTING

 

2024-2025 SCOUTING PROGRAM

 

Some of our earliest ties to the community involve youth groups and perhaps none are stronger or more lasting than the relationship between the VFW and America's scouting organizations. In fact, our partnership with the Boy Scouts of America dates back to 1915 when VFW Post 2100 helped to establish Troop 1 in Everett, Washington.

Ten (10) points for sponsoring each of:

Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts

Exploring, Ventures, Sea Scouts

Daisy Scouts, Brownie Scouts

Jr. Girl Scouts, Sr. Girl Scouts 

Ten (10) points for sponsoring a new unit 

Send copy of charter (or proof of sponsorship) to Director


One (1) point for hosting a Scouting Presentation from a district or higher level scouter. No Max Points

                                                                     

One (1) point for every $50 donated to scouting i.e. Friends of Scouting (FOS), Camperships, Century of Values, Department of Maine Scouting Program, Donation towards an Eagle project etc.   No Max Points

 

One (1) point for hosting a scouting function, other than normal meetings (i.e. Blue & Gold, Court of Honor, appreciation dinners, etc.) any questions as to what qualifies contact the director

 

Ten (10) points for every volunteer provided by the post to assist with scouting activities, other than a charter organization representative (i.e. commissioner, adult leader/ adviser, committee members, merit badge councilor, etc.)  

Since the Director does not see the Activity report a copy of it or a separate report must be sent either email or U.S. mail.

There will be Four (4) divisions:

                                         II                              66-125

                                         III                            126-225

                                         IV                            226 & OVER 

 

The four division winner will be recognized at the State Convention

 

National-Scout of the Year
Our Scout of the Year program provides members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who display standout citizenship, patriotism and love of country with the opportunity to be rewarded with college scholarships of up to $5,000. 

Before submitting your Scout of the Year application, please review the rules and eligibility requirements

Ten (10) points for submitting a candidate for Scout of the Year. Post can submit one candidate per category:

Boy Scout Eagle Scout

Girl Scout Gold Award

Venturing Summit or Sea Scouts Quartermaster Award

 

The Eagle Scout of the Year will receive a plaque and the Moroz-Pietrowski Post 9973, $500 scholarship. The winner of the Girl Scout and Venturing divisions will receive a plaque and a Department of Michigan $500 scholarship. The sponsoring post will also receive a plaque. One winner will advance to the National for Judging. 

 

Nomination forms can be obtained from the National website www.vfw.org/Scout/ or by contacting the Director. Submit nomination forms (one candidate per category) to the director by April 1, 2024 

All-State points will be awarded for every entry submitted to the Director
